This list of ACVIM Board Certified Veterinary Cardiologists in the United States and Canada is current as of August 2011 (with updates in January 2012) and includes e-mail addresses and websites. The information about Cardiologists whose names are in bold letters has been confirmed to be accurate by at least one source. Board certified cardiologists of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine also are included.

Owners of Cavalier King Charles spaniels should have a special interest in locating veterinary cardiologists. Every Cavalier over 12 months of age should be examined by a board certified veterinary cardiologist at least annually, to determine whether the dog has a mitral valve murmur. Mitral Valve Disease (MVD) is the leading killer of Cavalier King Charles spaniels. It also is vital for CKCS breeders to have their breeding stock examined by cardiologists annually, in order to know whether any of their breeding stock has mitral valve disease, in order to comply with the MVD Breeding Protocol. Ask the cardiologist to use this standardized report form. Also, tell the cardiologist to submit your dog's heart examination report to the ACVIM Registry of Cardiac Health (ARCH).
